Volunteer Opportunities 

ASID is an organization of volunteers. We are always looking for members who would like to be involved in all aspects of our chapter events—from planning to implementation. You can see a listing of upcoming events on the calendar. We thank you for your help in the past and invite all of our members to take part in future events.

Volunteer Professional Development (Events) Committee Member Role Description

Reports to:
Professional Development Director Alex Schinasi

Hours:
Approx 3-5 hours per month. Varies, to be agreed with Pro Dev Director
 

Length of Role:
3 months, with possibility to continue for another term or terms

Location:
Work could be performed remotely or from office
 

Skills:
Event attendance experience
Basic math: Adding, subtracting, percentages
Ability to make phone calls, send emails
Knowledge of working with volunteers/in teams

Personality Traits:
Problem solving
Ability to create and maintain relationships with people of varied backgrounds and ages
Work independently and in a small team
Self-starter/shows initiative
Good judgment, defers to guidance from Director when necessary

Work Required:
Attend meetings
Complete assigned action points
Liaise with outside contacts
Attend events and provide support
Update online project tracking software (Basecamp)

Volunteer Communications Committee Member Role Description

Reports to:
Communications Director Katherine Tincher

Hours:
Approx 3-5 hours per week. Varies, to be agreed with Communications Director
 

Length of Role:
3 months, with possibility to continue for another term or terms

Location:
Work could be performed remotely or from office
 

Equipment Required:
Mac or PC computer with Microsoft Office or other word processing software
Reliable internet access
Optional design software a plus (InDesign, Photoshop, etc)

Skills:
Graphic Design
WordPress/other publishing platforms
Social Media

Copy Editing

Photo Editing


 

Personality Traits:

Ability to create and maintain relationships with vendors
Work independently and in a small team

Task Available:
Update current website www.can.asid.org with needed changes
Post to Chapter Facebook and Instagram accounts

Help with SFDesign magaine – article writing, editing, sourcing

Other Volunteer Opportunities

 

Tiny House Project

Needed: Support Teams on Concept Houses, Critics for Student Entries, Construction Crews, and Sponsors of Product (the point people who relate to the Sponsors).

 

Spring Spruce Up 

Needed: Coordinators for the Marketing, Advertising, Designer Preparations and Sponsorship Coordinators. The Board will do mashup.

 

Passport to Design - July Event

Needed: Event coordinators for IPs, event planners for day of, transportation and logistics committee.

 

Holiday Party Event

Needed: Committee to support event production for ASID Halloween Ball, Board Installation, and Holiday Party at The Pines.

 

Student Committee

Assist with the Year End Graduation Party, Tiny House Construction and Unveiling, Judges to Student Work and Portfolio Reviews.
